Overview

The 3D allows you to obtain a realistic and beautiful view of your design. Think of yourself as the camera facing the kitchen. There are almost an infinite number of views you can get of a design. You can stand at any distance away from the design and look at any piece of the design. You can view your design in normal 3-D which gives a very realistic view of your design or you can choose presentation view which gives you a nearly photographic picture of your design.

When you enter the 3D section you will see the menu appear on the right edge of your screen. You are able to use this menu to decide where you will stand and where you will look in your kitchen. The default view is normal view, as you view the design the computer will be computing the presentation view.  The status of the computation can be seen at the bottom of the 3-D with a status line.  When the computing is done a button will appear that you can click on to go to presentation view.

How Do I Get to the 3D Section?

1. Have your design on the screen.

2. Click on 3D on the main menu bar.

3-D Buttons

3dbuttons

Hide Me:  Hides the 3-D Panel from the screen, clicking on 3D on the Main Menu Bar will bring the panel.

Return to 2D: This button will return you to the 2D section where the cabinets are designed. You are also able to click on 2D on the main menu bar and it will return you the same way.

Bird's Eye View/Standard View:This button acts as a switch that will allow you to look directly down on the design. Clicking it once will turn on the bird's eye view, and clicking it a second time will allow you to return to the Standard view.  Note:  Birds Eye view can only be seen from the Line Drawing, it can not be used in Presenation View.

Default View: This button will restore you to a "basic" view of the design. Use this button when you are not sure where you are looking at on the design, if for some reason you become "lost" when moving around in 3D, the default view will restore you to a view that will show the design so you can move on from there.

Presentation/Line Drawing View: A progress bar will show you the percentage of the image rendered.  If you click on the button while the percentages are listed, you can actually see the progress of the rendered as it comes up.  Clicking on the Line Drawing button will bring you back to the Line Drawing 3D view.  Clicking on Presentation button brings you back to the Presentation View

You can switch between Line Drawing and Presentation view by hitting the space bar once, while in 3D mode.

Options: Clicking this button will show the option menu

Omit From Drawing - Unit: Click on a unit # in the box on the 3D menu to make it "disappear" from 3D views and printouts.
Omit From Drawing - Wall: Click on the wall # in the box on the 3D menu to make it "disappear" from 3D views and printouts.
Parallel View        This will "clean" up your design and make it easier for viewing, it is usually left on.  Basically it keeps parallel lines parallel, occasionally in 3D, paralell lines will not draw properly due to the perspective that you are viewing.  This prevents that from happening.
Show Doors        This will draw your design on the screen showing doors on top cabinets and base cabinets.
Show Floor        This will draw your design on the screen showing the floor and floor grout. The size of the tile can be set under the Screen tab in Edit Startup
Drawing Quality        The speed at which Presentation View draws.  The different levels add more features to the drawing but also increase the time it takes to render the drawing to your screen.  Level 1 is the fastest and will draw the job with do shadowing, just textures.  Level 2, will add shadows to the drawing.  Level 3, will smooth the jagged lines in the drawing and Level 4, will add soft (more realistic) shadows to the drawing.  Level 1 draws relatively fast, Level 4 draws more slowly but offers the most realistic drawing.
Set Textures        See the help topic Set Material Textures
Hide and Redraw        Return to the main 3D window to draw the cabinets or continue to move around the design.

If Cabinets Seem to Draw Out Of Order:

(Cabinets draw first when they are further away and then in order the closer they are)  This would only happen in the Line Drawing, the Presentation View never draws out of order.

1. Locate the cabinet on the design that is drawing incorrectly.

2. Move your mouse pointer over the unit number or center of the cabinet.

3. Click your right mouse button on the cabinet to have it redraw.

4. Repeat the process until the design draws correctly on your screen.
