How do I save a job to a floppy disk?

Many of our customers have KCDw on their work and home computers.  As a result, you may start designing a job at home and want to bring it to work or vice versa.  To transfer a job from your home computer, you will need to save it to a floppy disk.  You should have at least one box of formatted blank floppy disks on hand at all times, just in case you need them.  They can be purchased at computer stores, office supply stores and most department stores.  To save job to a floppy disk, follow these steps:

 

Saving a Job to the Floppy A: Drive

1. Insert a blank formatted floppy disk into your floppy disk drive.

2. Open the job you want to save in KCDw, so it on the screen.

3. Click the file menu item and the click Save Job As, it will bring up a dialog box, similar to the one below.

3.  Click on the drop down arrow next to the Save in: item. and select the Floppy A Drive.

4.Then you can type in a file name, in the file name item and click the Save button.

5. You should see the light on the floppy drive come on momentarily, that's it, you have saved the file to your floppy disk.  You should label your diskette so that you will know what is on the disk.

 

Once you have saved the job to disk, you will want to bring it to your other computer and load the job.

Opening a job from the Floppy A: Drive

 

1. Put the labeled floppy disk in the disk drive of the computer you want to load the job into. 

2. Click the file menu item and then click, Open Job.

3. Click on the drop down menu at the bottom left hand corner and select the a:drive.

4. This should bring up a listing of all the jobs on the disk. select the one you want and click OK.
