Open Job

       This item is under the file menu on the main menu bar in the design section of KCDw®. By Clicking on file then open job a new window will appear. This places the open job window in the middle of your screen. This window has been updated in KCDw® Version 5.x to include the job heading for each job.

 

       On the left side of the OPEN SCREEN is the list of saved jobs.  Use your mouse pointer to highlight the first item in the list.  Then use the up and down arrow keys on your key board to scroll through the list.  If you find a job you want to recall, hit the enter key.  This opens the job to the job screen area.

 

To Open A Job:

1. Click on File and then Open Job.

2. Click on the job name on the left or scroll up or down to find a job as needed.

3. Click the OK button to open the selected job.

 

To Open A Job on A Different Drive or Directory:

1. Click on File and then Open Job.

2. Click on the drives arrow in the lower left to select a new drive.

3. Click on a folder to look for a job in a different directory.

 

       In the box under the words File name is the extension (*.job).  If you know the name of the job to be opened type the name in this box followed by the extension .job.  (Example:john1.job) Next hit the enter key or click the OK button located in the upper right hand corner of the OPEN SCREEN.  This opens the job to the job screen area.

       This screen now includes the job heading for each project as you scroll through the list. This feature makes it easier to work with 8 letters or less in the filenames.

 

       If you are not sure of the job name, you can scroll through the list.  Notice the arrows on the right side of the list.  One is at the top the other at the bottom.  Place the mouse pointer on the bottom arrow then click the left mouse button you will scroll the list.  To open one of the jobs place the mouse pointer on the job name and click the left mouse button.  This job is now highlighted and its name is in the top box.  Hit the enter key or Click OK. This opens the job to the job screen area.

 

       Check the job screen area before you open a job.  Does important work still exist on the job screen area? Has it been saved? If it is important, save it.  All work not saved is erased when a job is opened.
