A parts list is basically a collection of files that do the calculations that create the parts. There are roughly 400 files in a parts list, which can be broken down into the following categories.
For a more specific breakdown of files, look at the table below.
Box-b-ae.prt This file creates the parts for base angled ends Box-b-cc.prt This file creates the parts for 45 degree base corner cabinets
Box-b-ls.prt This file creates the parts for base lazysusans Box-b-re.prt This file creates the parts for base radius ends Box-base.prt This file creates the parts for all base cabinets excluding corner cabinet, Lazysusan, radius, and angled ends
Box-t-ae.prt This file creates the parts for top angled ends Box-t-cc.prt This file creates the parts for 45 degree top corner cabinets
Box-t-ls.prt This file creates the parts for top lazysusans Box-t-re.prt This file creates the parts for top radius ends Box-top.prt This file creates the parts for all top cabinets excluding corner cabinet, Lazysusan, radius, and angled ends
Box-tall.prt This file creates the parts for tall cabinets such as pantries and wallovens
Dr-box-1.prt This file creates the parts for all of your drawer boxes. We have 4 different drawer box methods, Dr-box-1 through Dr-box-4. Each file does drawer construction slightly differently.
Door.prt This file creates the overall door part and sends the program to the proper x-file for the desired door style.
ff-b-cc.prt This file creates the faceframe parts for 45 deg. base corner cabinets. (Not available in European Parts Lists)
ff-b-ls.prt This file creates the faceframe parts for base lazysusans. (Not available in European Parts Lists)
ff-base.prt This file creates the faceframe parts for base cabinets excluding corner cabinet and lazysusans. (Not available in European Parts Lists)
ff-t-cc.prt This file creates the faceframe parts for 45 degree top corner cabinets. (Not available in European Parts Lists)
ff-t-ls.prt This file creates the faceframe parts for top lazysusans. (Not available in European Parts Lists)
ff-top.prt This file creates the faceframe parts for top cabinets excluding corner cabinet and lazysusans. (Not available in European Parts Lists)
CLOSET PARTS The files for Closet parts list are very similar to Cabinet parts list, however there are a few different ones.
Hang-w.prt This file creates the parts for hang units.
Basket.prt This file creates the part for wire baskets.
Abbreviation Guide Box= tells you this file "builds" sides, backs, bottoms, shelves and so on (if applicable to type of cabinet) FF= tells you this file "builds" faceframe pieces such as rails and stiles b= tells you this file is for base cabinets t= tells you this file is for top cabinets ae= tells you this file is for angled ends re= tells you this file is for radius ends cc= tells you this file is for 45 degree corner cabinets ls= tells you this file is for lazysusans .prt= tells you that this file is a part file (all the files on the list have this extension)
example #1: Box-b-cc.prt This file will "build" all part excluding face frames for a base 45 degree corner cabinet.
To Set Up Your Parts Now that you know which file you want to load you will want to make changes to a cutlist method to setup your parts for faceframe cabinets or european cabinets.
Order Of Files When you run the cutlist, KCDw loads the a-setup file and completes all of the Set lines. Then the a-square file is run. Both the a-setup and a-square are run only once during the computation of parts. At that point, a Z-file is loaded for each unit in the drawing.. A Z-file tells KCDw which files to load for that type of cabinet. Using the table above, a file will be loaded depending on the type of cabinet that it is. It is the files listed above that actually "build" the parts in KCDw, remember the a-setup file just SETs formulas, values, and number to quickly and easily change parts. Modifying the a-setup file is the easy way to adjust part sizes. If a part needs to be added or a quantity of an existing part needs to be changed then you must go to the appropriate file to add the part or change the quantity.
