Overview

In KCDw you are able to printout or view a cutlist on the screen. A cutlist will show you the parts for the cabinets that you have designed using KCDw. The parts can be modified to the way you build your cabinets, doors, or drawers permanently so they will not need to be modified every time a cabinet changes in size. Any type of part can be changed whether it be a side, back, bottom, drawer front and so on. Furthermore, if you want to change the name of a part or add a note to a part or even add an entirely new part you can do this easily in the part section of KCDw, see what are the basics? for more information.

Using the parts section is easy to do as you learn more about it!. Don't be surprised if things look a little confusing at first. You are not expected to know everything about the parts section and this is not necessary. Just a little background and explanation will go a long way in understanding the parts and you will realizes the huge time saver and benefits of the parts section of KCDw.

In the parts section you can printout a cutlist, view a cutlist on the screen which will show you all parts on screen. Then make changes to a cutlist on the screen, edit your part list, and edit your reports . To get to the parts section simply click on the word Part on the main menu bar at the top of the KCDw window. If you plan on using KCDw for its cutlist capabilities it is a good idea to purchase a quick set. This is when you have a technician specifically work on setting up your parts for you. It is much faster and easier to obtain a quick set for either faceframe or European than setting it all up on your own. Please see the technical support help page for contact information. If you have decided to set up your parts completely on your own, the only information you will have will be included in this help manual.

This screen is where you will create your parts list.  On the left hand side you will see a box with the title Cut-list Method on the right hand side the box is titled Printed Reports.  To create your parts list, you must highlight something from each box.  If we created a parts list for you, you would highlight a Cut-list Method called My-Pt-F for Frame parts lists or My-Pt-E for European or Frameless parts list.  After highlighting a Cut-list Method, you would then highlight a Printed Report.  Each report will print out a different type of report, below is an overview of the different report types that come with KCDw.  Once you have highlighted both a Cut-list Method and a Printed Report, click OK.  The computer will take a moment to think and then your report will start to print.

Printed Report Types

Assembly Report- An Assembly report will print out each cabinet in a job on a separate piece of paper with a picture of the cabinet on the bottom and the parts listed on the top of the page.

By Unit Report- A By Unit report with print a report just like the Assembly report, except that it allows you to choose the cabinet you want to print.  This is good if you only want to print one cabinet and not the whole job.

Cutlist Report- A Cutlist report prints out a listing of all the parts for the entire job with no pictures of cabinets.

Door-Dwr Report- A Door-Dwr report will print all the parts for your drawers and doors with the door and drawer fronts on one page, the door and drawer front parts on a second page and the drawer box parts on a third page.

Drawers Report- A Drawers report will all the drawer box parts on one page.

Eur Sqft Report- The Eur Sqft report will print out a material listing report for a job for European Construction

Frm Sqft Report- The Frm Sqft report will print out a material listing report for a job for Frame or Overlay Frame Construction.

Screen Report- The Screen report will print out a listing similar to the Cut list report, but it will print it to the screen.  To access the screen report you can either highlight the ~screen.rpt report or just don't highlight any report and click OK.  The screen report is useful to test your parts without having to waste paper.

KCDw is very versatile and all of the reports can be edited to your tastes.  Give our technical support line a call and find out how.
