Printer Setup

To Change The Paper Orientation:

1. Click on file on the main menu bar.

2. Click on printer setup.

3. Click on landscape.

To Change Print Quality:

1. Click on file on the main menu bar.

2. Click on print setup.

3. Click on options.

4. Click on a higher quality setting.

5. Click the OK button.

       This item is under the file menu on the main menu bar in the design section of KCDw®. By Clicking on file then print setup a new window will appear. This actually loads a program that is not "controlled" by KCDw®. The program is called your printer driver. This driver communicates between your printer and computer. You are able to get to this same program through control panel but we added it to KCDw® to make it more convenient. In this driver, which is different for almost all printers, you are usually able to adjust print quality, paper type, graphic settings and your own printer help section.

       Accessing this section in KCDw® is helpful because it allows you to quickly change printout quality. For most of your cut lists and elevations you may want a lower quality which in turn speeds up printing. For a 3-D drawing you would want to change the quality to the highest setting. Printing on the higher quality settings will make your printer slower but a nicer printout would be desirable in that situation so that the customer is able to better visualize their project.

       Exact directions on each printer would be impossible to include in this section because there are so many different printers. If your printer is a Windows compatible printer you will find it easy to use and the setting easy to switch or change. Refer to your printers help section included with the purchase of your printer for additional help changing individual settings.
