To Place a Cabinet On a Wall: 1. Click the left mouse button once on the unit menu on the unit you want to design. 2. Click and hold the left mouse button on the wall where you want the cabinet or unit to start, refer to the message area for the cabinet's location. 3. With the mouse button held down, drag the mouse in the direction you want the unit to be. 4. Look in the message area as you drag the unit for the units width. 5. Release the mouse button when the unit is the correct width. 6. Make any necessary changes on the unit screen such as height, depth, or # of openings. Understanding the Cabinet Unit Screen. 7. Click the OK button to draw the unit.
"Butting" Cabinets Together Automatically Note: When using drag & drop and locating a unit it is not necessary to click precisely next to a cabinet or wall the new unit will be located against, the cabinet will be "pushed" next to the wall or unit if it is a few inches away.
Joining Cabinets Together Automatically Note: When using drag & drop and you wish to join the new unit to an existing unit simply drag the unit "over" about 5 or 6 inches into the pre existing unit. This will automatically join the two units together, building them as one unit. This can be done manually instead by making one of the cabinet stiles 0 that butts into the other cabinet which is what the drag & drop feature will do for you if you wish.
To move any unit or cabinet simply move your mouse over the unit's number. Click and hold your left mouse button and you will notice a cursor appear. Drag to the left or right to change the unit's location. You can also move the unit up or down on the wall as well.
To Move A Unit To Another Wall 1. Go to the floorplan view (top view) 2. Click and hold the left mouse button on the unit you wish to move 3. Drag the unit to the spot on the new wall where you want it to be. 4. Refer to the message area (below the unit menu on the right) for location information 5. Release the mouse button to "let go" of the cabinet.
Move a Unit Up or Down on a Wall 1. Make the wall you want to work with active by typing the wall number on the keyboard. 2. Go to the elevation view (front view) 3. Click and hold the left mouse button on the unit you wish to move 4. Drag the unit up or down. 5. Refer to the message area (below the unit menu on the right) for location information 6. Release the mouse button to "let go" of the cabinet.
Move a Unit to the Left or Right on a Wall 1. Make the wall you want to work with active by typing the wall number on the keyboard. 2. Go to the elevation view (front view) 3. Click and hold the left mouse button on the unit you wish to move 4. Drag the unit to the left or right. 5. Refer to the message area (below the unit menu on the right) for location information 6. Release the mouse button to "let go" of the cabinet.
Print Your Plans: This item is under the file menu on the main menu bar in the design section of KCDw®. By Clicking on file then print job and a new window will appear. The print window is used to print your jobs so take notice of the of the options available to you.
Print Out a Cutlist: 1. Click on parts on the main menu bar of the design section. 2. Highlight a parts list from the Cutlist Method box. 3. Highlight a report from the Printed Reports box. 4. Click the OK button.
Printout a Price list: 1. Click on Price on the main menu bar 2. Highlight a price method from the Cabinet Pricing list 3. Highlight a counter top list from the C-Top Pricing list (only if you want the counter top price included) 4. Highlight a report from Printed Report list. 5. Click the OK button 6. The price report will come to the screen, if everything is OK, select the Print menu item. If you need to change a price, type it into the screen and click on the recalculate menu item. Then select the Print menu item.
On the left hand side of this window you will see the Cabinet lists. In the middle of the window you will see the counter top lists, and on the right will be the reports. You can think of each cabinet list as a different way of pricing the cabinets like oak or cherry. Each counter top list is a different way of pricing counter tops like corian® or formica®. Each report is a different way of printing out the prices like in a contract or proposal form. You can have as many different cabinet lists, counter top lists, and reports as you want, but it is a good idea to start modifying only one at a time.
Save Your Job This item is under the file menu on the main menu bar in the design section of KCDw®. By Clicking on file then Save Job As a new window will appear. This places the Save Job As window in the middle of your screen. Save Job As is different than just Save Job.
On the left side of the Save As screen is the list of previously saved jobs. Below the words File name is a box. Enter your job name in this box. You are allowed to use both numbers and letters in your job name but no more then eight characters can be use. You also cannot use symbols or spaces in the job storage name. KCDw® automatically places a period and then a job after the job storage name. The only action you need to do is to click in the file name box and type in the job storage name. Click the OK button to save the job. If the job already exists it will ask you if you wish to have this copy of the kitchen as the one that will be saved. Click yes if you agree.
