KCDw Software Keys
Software Keys: Software keys are small electronic devices that plug into your computer. The keys allow the KCDw Software to run. Before starting KCDw the software key must be attached to the computer. There are two types of software keys; Primary and Secondary. When KCDw starts it will tell you what type of key is attached on the starting screen (see images below).
Primary Keys: The Primary key is the main key associated with your KCDw account. It is usually your first key, the one you paid full price for. The Primary key can have Secondary keys associated with it. The Primary key is responsible for Recharging its Secondary keys. Primary keys produce job files that can Recharge Secondary keys.
Secondary Keys: The Secondary keys are extra keys you purchased at a highly reduced price. Secondary keys are intended to be used by the same organization as their Primary key. Secondary keys need to communicate periodically with their Primary keys. Secondary keys work for about six months to a year before it will need to be Recharged. Secondary keys are Recharged by the Primary keys associated with them. To Recharge the Secondary key, load a job file (less than one month old) created with the Primary key. (The normal passing of job files between KCDw users in the office generally keeps the Secondary Keys Recharged)
