To Open The Use Color Group Window: Color Group1. Click on Change on the main menu bar, then click on Use Color Group
To Change The Color Group Before Designing a Job: 1. Click on the Color Group you want the new job to use and make sure you see a thin box surround it. 2. Click on the OK button
The job you design next will use the new Color Group you selected. By default all faceframe jobs use Color Group #1. Frameless by default use Color Group #2. Actually cabinet or counter top color can be changed by going to the Set Color Section. Use Color Group is just a way that will allow you to tell a job to use Color Group 3, 4, or 5 instead of 1 or 2. It is not necessary to change the Color Groups, it is an "extra" feature of KCDw®
Color Group is a pre selected color for the cabinets and counter tops. To open the Color Group box go to the main menu bar and click on Change or hold down the Alt key and press the C key a menu drops down; highlight and click Use Color Group or press the R key. This opens the Set Color Group box. The default is set for Color Group 1.
The Color Group currently used is outlined with a black box. There are two colors in the outlined box. The color on the left is the Cabinet color the color on the right is the Counter top color. Any job you were working on would use these colors because this is the default. To use a different Color Group you would need to select that Color Group prior to placing the units on the job screen area.
To use another Color Group place the mouse pointer on the white circle next to the new choice for Color Group and click the left mouse button. This group of colors is now in the outlined black box and a dot appears in the white circle. To activate this group of colors for your work click OK.
IMPORTANT: Before work goes on the job screen area the Use Color Group number MUST be pre selected. If a Color Group is selected after units are on the job screen area, only the units put up after the Color Group selection will be affected by the change. Once cabinets and Counter tops are on the job screen area you must go to set colors to make a change.
If you want to change the color in one or both boxes (cabinet and counter top) of a Color Group: Click on the Color Group number you want to change then click the change color button. This opens the color palette. Now suppose Rm#2 (Color Group 2) is the group you want to change. In the color palette, go to the word list and click Rm 2 Cabinet. The word Rm 2 Cabinet now displays in the large color box. Next select a color. This is done by clicking on one of the little color squares. The little color squares are located in the center of the color palette and next to the word list. After you have selected a color square, by clicking on it with the left mouse button, notice that the selected color now displays in the large Color Box. The name Rm 2 Cabinet (Room Cabinet Color 2 for Color Group 2) should also display. If this is not the color you want, select another one. Each time you make a color selection the color in the large color box changes to display your change. Once you are happy with your color selection click the "set this color" button or if you want this to be a permanent change click the "Save as Standard Colors" button, then click the "close" button. The Color Group 2 box will display your chosen cabinet color. To change the counter top color you would follow the same process, except from the word list in the color palette choose Rm 2 Counter Top (Room 2 Counter Top Color for Color Group 2). Follow and use this same process for each Color Group you decide to change. Remember, to make a permanent change use the "Save as Standard Colors" button.
